Board of Directors
CHANE is managed by a Board of Directors. There is no back-up staff; this is a working board that meets regularly to manage the charity’s fundraising activities and to oversee the individual projects undertaken. All members of the board have previously participated as staff members on the Mount Zion excavation.
Gretchen Cotter, President of the Board, has served on the boards of the SF Band Foundation and SF AIDS Foundation and has supported other boards of directors. She has 35 years experience in IT and financial systems. She has excavated in En Gedi, Tiberias, and Mt Zion.
Dr. Christopher Ritz, Treasurer of the Board, is a Professor of Management Science and is a consultant to industry specializing in management. His background includes senior management positions as well as professorships at Wharton, Queens University and Johns Hopkins.
Suzanne Johnson, Secretary of the Board, graduated from Rosemont College with a major in Art History followed by five years as a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. After careers in advertising and property management she focused on special education and retired after twenty years of teaching.
Virginia Withers, Archivist of the Board, serves as an excavation photographer, and is a graduate of Florida International University, majoring in Art History and History with an emphasis on Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations.
